-🇵🇰/🏴/🏳️: ALERT

In Khyber District’s Maidan area, due to potential future military operations, displaced families at the Dwatoy check post are facing severe hardships caused by freezing temperatures, staff shortages, and slow registration procedures. Many, including women, children, and the elderly, have been stranded for hours, with some forced to spend the night in their vehicles.

Noor Haleem Afridi, General Secretary of JUI Tirah, expressed serious concern over the situation, warning of significant health risks and urging authorities to increase the number of registration staff and provide essential facilities, including warm clothing and blankets. The displaced families have appealed for immediate humanitarian assistance to alleviate their suffering.

Tragically, in Khyber District’s Tirah Valley, Meidan area near Nare Baba and Mangal Bagh Kando, a vehicle carrying some of the displaced families en route from Meidan to Peshawar via Bara met with an accident. The incident resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to two others.

On January 6, 2026, the DG ISPR announced the full operationalization of Pakistan’s National Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centre (NIFTAC) and Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centres (PIFTACs), which were initially established three years ago. These centers are designed to enhance real-time intelligence sharing, coordination, and threat analysis among military, civilian, and law-enforcement agencies.

The DG ISPR emphasized that these centers mark a significant milestone in integrated counter-terrorism and internal security, breaking down information silos and enabling swift, intelligence-driven responses. Their effectiveness was demonstrated recently when a major militants network (BLA) and attack in Karachi was successfully dismantled using actionable intelligence generated by these centers.

The DG ISPR stated that data reveals significant delays and weak judicial outcomes in counter-terrorism (CT) cases being adjudicated in Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs).

According to the DG ISPR, in 2025, a total of 851 CT cases remained pending. While 231 arrests were made during the year, only 21 convictions were secured, compared to 33 acquittals, highlighting serious challenges in investigation, prosecution, and case management.

He further noted that the broader picture is even more concerning. Nationwide, 3,698 CT cases have been pending for less than three years, while 677 cases have remained unresolved for more than three years. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) bears a disproportionate share, accounting for approximately 80% of short-pending cases (2,968 of 3,698) and 92% of long-pending cases (621 of 677), making it the epicenter of judicial backlog in terrorism-related trials.

The four arrested militants of the Zainabiyoun Brigade have been identified as Raayat Hussain, Hussain Amlaq, Sajid Ali, and Muhammad Askari. During the operation, authorities recovered four pistols and ammunition from their possession, along with a list of individuals they had planned to target.

Raayat Hussain, alias Maulvi and codenamed Hamza, has been identified as the central facilitator behind multiple high-profile target killings in the city, including the assassination of Imtaiz Mir. The CTD revealed that Raayat Hussain holds a master’s degree and had been teaching at a madrassa, which he allegedly used as a cover for his militant activities.

Officials stated that Raayat Hussain had established several militants teams in Karachi, structured in such a way that each member knew only him personally, while having no contact with other members. This arrangement was intended to protect the network from exposure in case of arrests.

Raayat Hussain was also responsible for providing weapons, transportation, accommodation, and financial support to these militants teams. He had supplied arms to the high-profile militant Masoom Raza, who was previously arrested along with his accomplice Israr Gilgiti. Masoom Raza was similarly involved in multiple sectarian target killings.

Balochistan CTD DIG Aitzaz Goraya stated on Thursday that militants are exploiting the platform of the Balochistan Yakjehti Committee (BYC) to recruit youth into their networks.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Quetta alongside Balochistan Additional Chief Secretary Hamza Shafqaat, DIG Goraya provided details about a militant apprehended during a recent operation in Panjgur.

According to DIG Goraya, law enforcement agencies, including the CTD and local police, arrested Sajid Ahmad, alias Shahwaiz, a resident of Turbat. Sajid holds a Master’s degree in Sociology from the International Islamic University, Islamabad. He previously served on contract at Zubaida Jalal Government College for three years before joining the University of Turbat as a faculty member.

The DIG noted that Sajid had maintained continuous contact with the BYC leadership and played an active role in its activities. He emphasized that “the role of BYC has emerged prominently. Every individual, including minors, who participates in or facilitates what they term a ‘sharing network’ or intelligence network is, in some capacity, linked to BYC.”

DIG Goraya further stated that Sajid had been associated with the BLA and the BLF. Sajid reportedly conducted reconnaissance of strategic locations in Turbat, marking them on Google Earth and sharing the information with his commander, Dostain, based in a neighbouring country (not named, so Iran). Key sites reportedly surveyed included the CTD complex, access routes to Turbat airport, and an under-construction high court building.

During his arrest, law enforcement recovered a substantial cache of weapons and explosives from Sajid’s vehicle, including:

—1 rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) and 5 rockets

—2 M-16 rifles with 23 magazines and approximately 800 rounds

—20 hand grenades with 22 fuses

—30 slabs of C4 explosives

—1 jacket, remote control devices, 13 UBGL rounds, a compass, helmets, and 30 feet of detonating cord

Sajid was reportedly transporting these materials from Panjgur to Turbat.

DIG Goraya added that Sajid had not only shared materials with BYC but had also authored subversive literature, posted content on social media, and conducted recruitment activities. On his influence, several individuals, including Balaj, Jalal, and Hamal, joined BYC, with Hamal eventually joining the BLA while maintaining contact with Sajid. Hamal also reportedly accompanied Sajid to meet Dostain in the neighbouring country via alternative routes.

Forensic analysis of Sajid’s mobile phone revealed significant smuggling activity (referred to as “Zambad”), including the transfer of highly sophisticated weapons and equipment, which were subsequently distributed to their network members.

Additionally, the CTD official stated that Sajid’s sister-in-law was also affiliated with BYC, and properties were registered under her name to facilitate the storage and transport of materials.

-🇵🇰/🏴/🏳️: ALERT

Balochistan Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officials confirmed that, in addition to Sajid Ahmad, three other individuals were arrested in recent operations, all linked to the Balochistan Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and militants networks.

One of the arrested individuals is 18-year-old Sarfaraz, a resident of Kharan. According to CTD Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Aitzaz Goraya, Sarfaraz was initially inducted into BYC, participating in protests and roadblocks. He was later assigned to conduct reconnaissance on police operations, including polio campaigns, as part of a wider intelligence-gathering network.

Sarfaraz was reportedly introduced to BYC by Jahanzaib, alias Mehrbaan, aged 20. Jahanzaib had been heavily involved in BYC’s activities, including conducting reconnaissance missions, transporting extortion money, and moving medicines. DIG Goraya stated that Jahanzaib personally organized BYC’s roadblocks in Noshki and Kharan and managed social media propaganda for the group.

Jahanzaib also recruited another 18-year-old, Bezan, who later joined the BLA. Bezan’s induction into BYC preceded his participation in militant operations. Bezan’s brother, Shafqat Yar, was reportedly killed during a firing incident involving the Levies force in Khad Kocha.

DIG Goraya emphasized that these individuals and children had been subverted through BYC, manipulated into performing small but significant tasks for the militant networks. He warned that militants groups systematically exploited youth and children, contradicting their public claims of not involving minors.

The CTD official stressed the importance of informing parents about such indoctrination and noted that affected youngsters would be taken to internment and rehabilitation centers in Quetta and Turbat. There, authorities plan to provide dialogue, psychological counseling, and parental involvement to reform them as responsible citizens.

The IMP mouthpiece, Sada-e-Haq Media, released an 11-page document regarding the recent Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Ummat Pakistan Conference held in Karachi. The conference brought together ulama from various schools of thought, who presented and discussed key points on a range of issues.

In its document, the militant group IMP endorsed several resolutions of the conference, including those concerning: implementation of Shariah, elimination of the usurious banking system, legal marriage age, the Transgender Rights Act, judicial and parliamentary reforms, Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, registration of madrasas, removal of exemptions, and the issue of Palestine.

However, the group rejected the points in which the ulama opposed armed struggle and militant groups operating within Pakistan.

-OBSERVATION: I personally think that IMP Media is operated by their affiliated group HIIP, which is allegedly linked to Al-Qaeda. The language used in IMP’s Sada-e-Haq and the HIIP mouthpiece Inqilab Media is very similar, whereas IMP' HGB and TLIP do not employ such rhetoric in their respective media channels.

Khalid Qureshi, who serves as a deputy in TTP’s Umar Media, recently released a short document that provides an ideological and analytical narrative on the evolution of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) between 2018 and 2025. The document portrays this period as one of organizational recovery, consolidation, and expansion following earlier military setbacks and internal divisions.

It asserts that the current leadership focused on reunifying splinter factions and bringing various militant groups under a centralized command structure. The document also describes an alleged expansion of operational activities beyond traditional tribal areas into other provinces, along with the reported inclusion of members from different ethnic and regional backgrounds.

Another point highlighted is an increase in operational activity and manpower, with figures attributed to both independent analysts and the group’s own media indicating a steady rise in attacks from 2018 onward, peaking in 2024–2025.

The text outlines changes in organizational structure, describing a more centralized and hierarchical system modeled on the Afghan Taliban, with defined zones, provinces, districts, and specialized departments. It also mentions adjustments in operational policies, including targeting and public engagement measures, as well as the role of the group’s media apparatus in shaping narratives.

Overall, the document serves as a self-assessment that frames the 2018–2025 period as one of organizational consolidation, geographic expansion, and increased operational capacity, while largely reflecting the group’s internal perspective.
