A drone, which appears to be an MQ-9 model (as i mentioned), crashed today at approximately 2 PM. However, even after several hours, no official or media statement has been released. Taliban-affiliated TOLO News reported the crash, but provided no further details.
According to a voice message from a Taliban source, the drone reportedly crashed on its own while passing over the mountains in Markaz Maidan Shahr of Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan.
Local sources indicate that the drone had been operating over Maidan Wardak and Ghazni provinces for the past 15 days.
It should be noted that a few weeks ago, Taliban sources also reported a drone crash in Kandahar, but no additional details were subsequently provided.
This information is unconfirmed.
