Gilgit-Baltistan Police have dismantled a militant network involved in the attack on GB Ameer-e-Ahle-Sunnah leader Qazi Nisar Ahmed, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gilgit-Baltistan announced during a press conference.
The IGP stated that two main suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack, which occurred on October 5, 2025, and left six people injured. The mastermind behind the attack has been identified as Naeem Abbas, and several facilitators involved at different stages of the attack have also been taken into custody.
According to police, a total of 11 militants were involved, including nine attackers and two facilitators. One militant was killed on the spot during a security operation following the incident.
IGP confirmed that the arrested suspects are from the Roundu district of Baltistan Division, while a key facilitator is a resident of Jalalabad, Gilgit. Both main suspects have confessed to their involvement during interrogation.
Police have released the names, photographs, and confessional statements of the suspects. All individuals involved have been identified, including those still at large, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining fugitives.
Authorities have not confirmed the group’s affiliation, but opponents claim the attackers are linked to Liwa Zainabiyoun.

The damaged MRAP was recovered, and the three injured personnel were evacuated for medical treatment, their condition has been reported as stable.

The spokesperson for Lower Dir Police confirmed that at approximately 03:00 hours, acting on intelligence, a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted by security forces, CTD, Elite Force, and district police in the Jungl Badwan area of Tehsil Adenzai, Lower Dir, within the jurisdiction of Police Station Chakdara.
During the course of the operation, a militant facilitator, identified as Farman son of Toti Gujjar, was neutralized.
According to the statement, the deceased had a history of providing logistical support and intelligence to militant groups operating in the Birchrai mountain range.
