The President of Iran and the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs have extended heartfelt condolences to Pakistan over the widespread devastation caused by recent floods across the country, including Azad Kashmir.
The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that Iranian President Masoud Pezzekian, in a message issued on Saturday, conveyed profound sympathy on behalf of the Iranian government and people to Pakistan’s Prime Minister, its leadership, and citizens. He described the floods as a tragic calamity that has afflicted a brotherly and friendly nation.
The Afghan Foreign Ministry also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life resulting from the torrential rains and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to security sources, a group of militants carried out a two-sided assault on the Sardi Khel area,Bannu targeting FC Daryoba Platoon 157 and Pakistan Army’s 29 FF unit stationed at the joint post. The attack came from both the northern and southern sides.
Personnel from the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps responded immediately, leading to a 20-minute exchange of fire.
The attackers eventually withdrew without causing any casualties.
