-🇵🇰/🏴/🏳️: MONITORING

Yesterday, at approximately 10:00 a.m., around 14 militants affiliated with the IMP-linked HGB faction, Jabhat Ansar Al Mahdi Khorasan, ambushed the vehicle of North Waziristan Assistant Commissioner Shah Wali on Miranshah Road in Bannu District. The assistant commissioner was on his way to appear in court when the attack occurred near Mamash Khel’s Masoomabad. Miranshah, the administrative headquarters of North Waziristan, lies adjacent to Bannu, highlighting the strategic significance of the route.

The assault was sudden and coordinated. Militants opened fire on the vehicle before setting it ablaze and seizing weapons from personnel on board. The attack resulted in the deaths of AC Shah Wali, two constables, and a civilian laborer working in nearby fields. Additionally, two police officials sustained injuries.

This ambush represents the latest in a pattern of targeted attacks against state officials along the crucial Miranshah-Bannu corridor. Earlier, on November 4, the convoy of North Waziristan DPO Waqar Khan was similarly attacked along the same route. While militant groups often claim that their targets are security personnel, 2025 has seen a marked surge in assaults on civil servants.

Notable attacks this year include:

-November 2025: Suicide bombing at District Court Complex Islamabad, targeting judges, lawyers, and litigants.
-October 2025: Kidnapping of civil judge in Kharan District.
-July 2025: Assassinations of Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismail (Nawagai Tehsil) and Tehsildar Abdul Wakeel.
-May 2025: Killing of Additional Deputy Commissioner Hidayatullah Buledi in Surab.
-January 2025: Firing incident in Baggan, Kurram District, injuring DC Javedullah Mehsud.
-January 2025: AC Saeed Manan Khan was injured in Boshera, Upper Kurram.
-February 2025: Kidnapping of two customs officials and a chamber of commerce president in South Waziristan.
-April 2025: Two Tehsil Polio Officers (WHO staffers/government health officials) were abducted.
-September 2025: Kidnapping of a WHO District Surveillance Officer along with two fellow officials.
-October 2025: Abduction of four government officials in Bannu, including two high school teachers and two BISP workers.
-August 2025: Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal and his son were abducted in Ziarat.
-June 2025: Abduction of Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Hanif Noorzai.

Militants often target civil officers to undermine the authority and functioning of the state in conflict-affected regions. By attacking administrative officials, they aim to spread fear, disrupt governance, and weaken law enforcement. Such attacks also send a message that the government cannot ensure security, boosting the militants’ influence locally. Additionally, high-profile assaults on civil servants can be used for propaganda, ransom, or retaliation against state policies. Overall, targeting civil officers is a strategic tactic to destabilize governance and assert militant control.

-🇵🇰/🏴/🏳️: ALERT A suspected SVBIED attack at the entrance of the Frontier Corps Headquarters in the Nokundi area of Chaghi has been reported, followed by an armed assault by additional attackers. Initial information remains limited, and further details are…
-🇵🇰/🏴/🏳️: MONITORING

On the night of November 30, 2025, at 8:19 PM, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) carried out its first-ever suicide attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Nokundi, district Chagai. The assault was initiated by a female suicide bomber, who detonated a 500-kilogram vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (SVBIED) at the main gate of the compound. The blast created a 50-foot-wide crater on the Quetta–Taftan highway, demonstrating the significant scale of the explosives used and clearing a path for a coordinated gun assault by five additional armed militants.

According to security sources, the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) engaged the attackers immediately, killing three militants on site. However, three assailants managed to penetrate the compound, reportedly taking hostages. The engagement inside the headquarters, during which special forces and aerial support participated, continued for nearly 30 hours, with intermittent gunfire and explosions, before Pakistani forces eliminated the remaining attackers during a late-night clearance operation.

No official statement has yet been released by the military’s media wing regarding the attack or casualties, however, media reports indicate that eight security personnel lost their lives, while three others sustained serious injuries. Authorities have not publicly addressed the BLF’s claim of hostage-taking.

Weapons Cache Recovered

Security forces recovered a large stockpile of sophisticated weapons and equipment from the militants, including:

-Night Vision Goggles (NVGs)
-U.S.-manufactured assault rifles
-Kevlar ballistic vests
-Rocket launchers
-Grenade launchers
-Multiple types of grenades
-Ammunition
-Walkie-talkie communication sets, and more

The attackers used a non-custom white Toyota Corolla Fielder during the attack. Despite the prolonged engagement, the militants retained substantial ammunition.

Identities of the Attackers

The BLF identified the assailants as members of their newly formed Saddo Operational Battalion (SOB):

-Zarina Rafiq (alias Tarang Mahu) – female suicide bomber
-Asif Baloch (alias Khalid Baloch)
-Nabeel Ahmed (alias Ustad Adil Baloch)
-Mir Jan Meral (alias Janan Baloch)
-Inayat Sahil (alias Gehram Baloch)
-Ghulam Jan Baloch (alias Istal Baloch)

According to separatist-affiliated media, Zarina Rafiq hailed from Kech district and was a student at the University of Balochistan. Reports also indicate that her father, brother, and fiance have gone missing, with both militant and military sources accusing each other of the abductions.

Tactical and Strategic Significance

The attack marks the BLF’s first suicide operation and the fifth female-led suicide attack by the Baloch separatist groups, signaling a shift in the group’s operational tactics. Recently, BLF leader Allah Nazar, in a propaganda video, encouraged the participation of women in militant activities.

The Nokundi area is strategically and economically sensitive, hosting major mineral projects operated by Chinese and Canadian firms, including the Reko Diq and Saindak copper and gold deposits. Its proximity to Pakistan’s nuclear test sites and position along the Quetta–Taftan highway, bordering both Iran and Afghanistan, makes it a high-value target for militant operations.

In a statement, the BLF claimed it had achieved all its objectives in the attack, adding that a detailed statement will be released. The Pakistani military media wing has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.

A video circulating on channels linked to the TTP shows three masked individuals, identified as suspected Bangladeshi members of the group. In the footage, they urge the public, particularly audiences in Bangladesh, not to criticize the TTP or the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), and confirm their affiliation with TTP ranks.

In recent months, several Bangladeshi nationals operating under the TTP have been neutralized in security operations across Pakistan. These include Ahmed Jubair in North Waziristan, Abrar in Mianwali, Ibn Taymiyyah, and Faisal Hossain in Karak. Some Bangladeshi media also reported the killing of Ratan Dhali in Karak; however, a separate video later surfaced in which an individual identifying himself as Abdul Rahman, alias Ratan Dhali, denied reports of his death.

Another operative, Saifullah, was injured during strikes in Afghanistan in December of last year. More recently, in July, Bangladeshi authorities, acting on intelligence shared by Pakistani agencies, arrested two additional suspects linked to TTP activities.

Investigations have uncovered a long-running recruitment network led by engineer Imran Haidar, responsible for facilitating the movement of Bangladeshi youths to join TTP operations in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Recruits often travel through Saudi Arabia or Dubai before entering the region. Many of them were previously affiliated with the Bangladeshi extremist group Jamaatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya, which has known ties to Al-Qaeda.

Interrogations of the arrested suspects revealed crucial information regarding recruitment routes, handlers, and operational protocols. This has prompted Bangladeshi security agencies to intensify intelligence collection and monitoring efforts. Court records further indicate that these individuals were working to expand TTP networks, propagate jihadist ideology, and radicalize new recruits inside Bangladesh.

Recently, TTP media has started releasing visuals of its Bengali militants, whereas earlier the group attempted to conceal its links to Bangladesh.

Despite Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) stating a few days earlier that the ceasefire understanding with Afghanistan was no longer in effect, primarily due to violations of its core condition that Afghan territory would not be used for cross-border terrorism, militant attacks orchestrated from Afghan soil have continued unabated.

However, according to a Reuters report citing three Afghan and two Pakistani officials, including one based in Istanbul, Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban administration recently held undisclosed talks in Saudi Arabia, during which both sides agreed to uphold the ceasefire framework.

Reuters further noted that Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the Pakistani military, the Afghan Taliban spokesperson, and the Saudi government did not respond to requests for comment regarding these reports.

Well, Reuters reports are not always accurate, here is one example:

Tajikistan has denied a Reuters report claiming it is in talks with Russia to conduct joint patrols along the Afghan border after an attack that killed five Chinese workers on November 27. Tajik authorities called the report “fabricated,” insisting the border situation is fully under control. The attack, launched from Afghanistan and involving firearms and an explosive drone, has increased pressure on President Emomali Rahmon as China urged its citizens to leave the border region. Tajikistan and the Taliban continue to trade accusations over militant groups operating near the frontier, though both sides have recently communicated about the incident. Russia already has troops stationed in Tajikistan, but Dushanbe has independently guarded the Afghan border since 2005.
