-⚡🇵🇰/🇦🇫/🏴/🏳️: MONITORING
A senior member of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) media wing, Saifullah Ammar, highlighted on his WhatsApp channel that TTP activities escalated significantly in 2025, peaking in August, with continued high activity in September and early October. According to Ammar, earlier in 2025, TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud had stated that the group would achieve tangible results before 2026. Following this, the group intensified its operations, prompting retaliatory action by Pakistan inside Afghanistan. These developments led both countries to engage in negotiations, first in Qatar and later in Turkey.
According to Ammar, during these talks, a ceasefire between the TTP and Pakistani forces was reached. Although the negotiations eventually failed, the ceasefire reportedly remains in place. (It should be noted that this is according to Ammar; no formal ceasefire has been officially announced by either side. Since the Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict, the TTP has largely refrained from using its name, conducting small operations under different banners. However, there has been a significant decline in activity since the conflict, suggesting that an unofficial partial ceasefire may be in effect.)
Ammar further pointed out that while TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud had vowed to deliver results before 2026, he became silent toward the end of 2025, just as the group appeared to be approaching a decisive phase.
The sudden surge in TTP operations, followed by an abrupt slowdown, according to Ammar, points toward the possibility of a major attack or a surprising development.
Ammar questioned:
Has the TTP truly adopted a ceasefire?
If so, is the group planning something significant?
Will Pakistan and the TTP resume negotiations?
Will the Pakistani establishment recognize them?
Could a formal agreement with the TTP be reached?
(NOTE: By the time of this writing, he had deleted the post. Perhaps it was because of his questioning tone toward the leadership, or maybe he was hinting at something significant involving the group.)
