Pope Innocent III (1243-1254) issued a scathing declaration against Jews in his letter Etsi Judaeorum, stating:
"The Jews, by their own guilt, are consigned to perpetual servitude because they crucified the Lord... although they were warned by their prophets that they would commit such a crime-namely, to slay Christ, their Lord."
He further decreed that Jews were forbidden from holding public office, owning Christian slaves, or even testifying against Christians in court. This set a precedent for centuries of anti-Jewish legislation in Catholic Europe.

Educato, colto, curioso e soprattutto coraggioso. Uno dei giovani che questβanno aveva deciso di condividere con la nostra comunitΓ il rito del presente ad Acca Larenzia non cβΓ¨ piΓΉ. Dopo un mese di coma non ha superato le conseguenze di una vile aggressione subita da parte di alcuni marocchini in un paese della provincia di Valencia.
Raúl era di famiglia romana, ma viveva in Spagna. La sua sorte si è decisa così, a 28 anni, per mano di un nemico che conosciamo fin troppo bene.
Il suo esempio, la sua presenza, il suo sacrificio non verranno mai dimenticati.
