◾️Wildlife Protection Act 1972 was passed on August 21, 1972, but was later implemented on September 9, 1972.
β€’ This act prohibits the capturing, killing, poisoning or trapping of wild animals.

The act is aimed at strengthening the conservation of tigers and other endangered species by combating crimes against them.

πŸ”ΆWhat does this act include?

* Wildlife Protection Act 1972 (WLPA) prohibits the injuring, destroying and removing any part of a wild animals body.
* In the case of wild birds and reptiles, the act forbids disturbing or damaging their eggs.

* WLPA is also against taxidermy, which is the preservation of a dead wild animal as a trophy, or in the form of rugs, preserved skins, antlers, horns, eggs, teeth, and nails.

◾️The Natal Indian Congress (NIC), founded by Mahatma Gandhi, was an organization formed with the aim of fighting discrimination against Indians in South Africa.

◾️More about Natal Indian Congress

- Mahatma Gandhi was the founder & Honorary Secretary of Natal Indian Congress.

- Abdoola Hajee Afam Jhaveri (Dada Abdulla) was elected as the prescient of the organization. 

- Membership of the Congress was restricted to the trading class since a minimum of Β£3 annual subscription was a condition of membership.

- According to Mahatma Gandhi, in less than a month, about three hundred Hindus, Muslims, Parsees, and Christians became members.

- During its formative years, the NIC introduced many early petitions for changes to proposed discriminatory legislation.

- In the 1960s, the organisation became inactive due to the growing state repression and the banning of its leaders.

- It later allied itself with the African National Congress.
