🇬🇧 #UK: The UK’s Ministry of Defence has confirmed for the first time that the country’s Special Forces command has rejected asylum claims from over 2,000 Afghan commandos. The Afghan soldiers included in the statistic all had credible history serving alongside the SAS and SBS, with the UK MOD previously denying they had a policy of turning down the soldier’s applications.

Some believe the applications were turned down due to Afghan commandos being potential witnesses to war crimes in #Afghanistan under investigation in the UK’s Afghan inquiry. Former Afghan commandos have been frequently subjected to detention, torture, and killings by the Taliban since the government’s fall in 2021.
