Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, the leader of the Palestinian National Initiative (PNI) said that the recent decisions of the Israeli cabinet are a declaration of Israeli annexation of the West Bank, which is the most dangerous challenge facing the Palestinian people since the Nakba.
Dr. Barghouti added that the Israeli cabinet decisions approved an unprecedented expansion of illegal settlements and practical measures to Judaise the entire West Bank.
He added that the decisions included the complete seizure of the civilian powers of the Palestinian Authority in the so-called "B" areas and their subordination with “C” areas ( 82% of the West Bank in total) to the control of the settlers led by the Israeli finance minister and the de facto governor of the West Bank Smotrich .
The security authority of the PA in the so-called areas (A) were already cancelled by Israel , and this is an affirmation of Israel's termination of all the remains of the problematic Oslo Agreement.
Barghouti said that the most dangerous aspect of the cabinet’s decisions is that they legalise and change the nature of the West Bank from being an occupied Palestinian territory with foreign illegal settlement bodies in it, to an annexed Israeli territory in which settlements and their roads are besieging Palestinian cities, villages, and refugee camps and turning them into isolated and persecuted ghettos.
Barghouti said that Netanyahu and his fascist fundamentalist allies are implementing Netanyahu’s dreams to eliminate all possibilities for an independent Palestinian state, liquidate the entire Palestinian national rights, and to complete the implementation of the colonial settler project in all of historic Palestine.
Barghouti pointed out that the cabinet's decisions include not only the construction of more illegal settlements , but also the extensive demolition of Palestinian homes and facilities in most of the West Bank.
Barghouti stressed that the fascist decisions of the racist Israeli government and the war of genocide it is waging in Gaza are the most dangerous challenge the Palestinian people have faced since the Nakba in 1948.
He said that given the risks presented by the decision of the Israeli cabinet, the duty of Palestinian forces, factions and authority is to put aside their differences and conflicts and to accelerate the achievement of national unity and unified national leadership to addresses these unprecedented challenges.
He said the Israeli government will not be deterred from the dangerous path they are taking without the wide and serious sanctions from the International community and Arab countries.
Any one who claims to support the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent sovereign Palestinian state will be accused of hypocrisy unless they call for the immediate end of Israeli occupation of West Bank and Gaza and the removal of Israeli illegal settlements, and participates in the imposition of sanctions on the Israeli government to force the retraction of their recent decisions.

EU Leaders Express Deep Concern Over Military Action in Khan Younis, Gaza
Brussels /PNN /The European Union has voiced deep concern regarding the Israeli army's orders to evacuate civilians from the Khan Younis area in Gaza. In a joint statement, High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell and Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič highlighted the severe impact on approximately 250,000 people affected by these evacuation orders.
The European Hospital, one of the few partially functioning hospitals in southern Gaza, is among the institutions impacted. Patients, including pregnant women and the elderly, have been forced to relocate to other facilities such as Nasser Hospital, exacerbating overcrowding and severe shortages in the remaining hospitals. This comes at a critical time when access to emergency medical care is essential.
The forced evacuations are contributing to an escalating humanitarian crisis. UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, reported to the Security Council that nearly 1.9 million Gazans have been displaced within the Strip. The situation is dire, with insufficient facilities to accommodate the displaced and humanitarian partners struggling to meet their immense needs.
The European Union emphasizes that evacuations must adhere to International Humanitarian Law to avoid being classified as prohibited forcible transfers. This includes ensuring safety during transit and proper accommodation for Palestinians. Israel bears responsibility for guaranteeing that displaced individuals can return to their homes or areas of habitual residence once hostilities cease and that they have access to necessary services.
In response to the worsening situation, the European Union has mobilized all its crisis response and humanitarian tools to deliver aid to Gaza, including medical supplies and significant increases in EU funding to humanitarian partners.
The EU calls for an immediate ceasefire to facilitate a surge in humanitarian assistance to Gaza and the release of all hostages. The Union also underscores the obligation to respect and implement the legally binding orders of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) from January 26 and May 24, 2024.
The European Union fully supports the comprehensive roadmap presented by President Biden and urges the immediate implementation of United Nations Security Council resolution 2735, along with resolutions 2728, 2720, and 2712.
