1) Gujarat state government launched the Gujarat Shramik Basera scheme 2024 to make a qualitative change in the standard of living of all the construction workers and laborers in Gujarat state.

3) The Bihar Public Examinations (PE) (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2024, was tabled by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and passed with voice vote amidst a walkout by the Opposition.
➨The Bill has the provision of an imprisonment term of three to five years and a fine of ₹10 lakh.

4) The Ministry of Railways, Government of India, through an office memorandum, announced the up-gradation of IRCTC from 'Schedule B' to 'Schedule A' Category, Central Public Sector Enterprises.

5) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the revised fiscal deficit target for 2024-25 of 4.9 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This is 20 basis points lower than 5.1 per cent announced in the interim budget.

6) Mizoram’s Aizawl would be the fourth capital city in the northeast region to come under railway connectivity by July next year.

7) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, has unveiled the Prime Minister's package, comprising five key schemes and initiatives aimed at creating substantial employment and skilling opportunities.
➨ This ambitious package is set to benefit 4.1 crore youth over the next five years, backed by a central outlay of ₹2 lakh crore.

8) Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, known for films such as "Mr India", "Bandit Queen" and "Elizabeth", has been appointed festival director for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

9) The government allocated an outlay of ₹6,21,940.85 crore for defence for FY25, which is the highest among all the Union ministries.
➨ The total allocation comes out as approximately 12.90 per cent of the total budget of Union of India.

10) In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha unveiled the Logo, Website and Teaser of the inaugural edition of the Kashmir Marathon, to be held on 20th October in Srinagar.

13) Ajinkya Naik became the youngest president of the Mumbai Cricket Association after the announcement of the results.

14) Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been honoured with a customised gold coin bearing his name and likeness by the Grévin wax museum in Paris.

15) Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a successful maiden flight-test of Phase-II Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) interceptor AD-1 missile with large kill altitude bracket from APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
