Mining alone is a lottery. Your computer either finds a whole block and earns the full 50 PCN, or it finds nothing — there is no partial credit, and a typical PC can wait days between wins. Most people install a miner, see zero for a week, and conclude it is broken.
The pool fixes that. You are paid for the work you did, whether or not you were the lucky one.
HOW TO JOIN — no new software
Pool mining is built into the PCoin node itself, from v1.3.0. One line:
pcoin-cli startpoolmining "pool.pc.am:3333" "<your pc1q… address>" 0
0 means every core. On Windows use bitcoin-cli.exe the same way.
One thing to get right: that command does not survive a restart on its own. Both the Windows tray and the Linux service re-issue SOLO mining when they start, so unless you also add the pool to your miner config, your machine quietly goes back to paying its own address after the next reboot. The one line to add is on the website.

A freshly mined reward cannot be spent by anyone — pool or solo — until it is 100 blocks deep, roughly 17 hours. That is a rule of the chain, not a delay the pool invents.

PCoin v1.3.6 - Windows fast mode fix
If you turned on fast mode in the Windows miner, your PC has almost certainly not been mining.
Turning fast mode on stopped the miner app being able to talk to its own node. The node itself kept running perfectly - but nothing was mined, and the Start and Stop buttons stopped working too, so a machine that was already mining could not be switched off either.
You are affected if the app says the node is not answering, or if the mining buttons do nothing at all.
Update to v1.3.6. Your wallet, payout address and settings are kept:

Fast mode is safe to leave on now, and it is several times faster. It needs about 2 GB of free memory, and the first time you switch it on it spends a few minutes preparing - the miner looks idle during that, which is normal.

Two real steps forward this week:
1. ElectrumX servers are live for PCN (2 nodes, real SSL) — the hard prerequisite for non-custodial DEX listings.
2. The first PCN atomic swap settled end-to-end: 100 PCN for 17.5 DOGE, verified independently on both chains.
On the strength of that, we've filed for listing on Komodo DeFi Framework (formerly AtomicDEX) — a non-custodial DEX where nothing is held in a wallet you don't control. The PR is open and under review, not yet merged:

Disclosure, because you should know before you trade: one address is currently finding ~62% of blocks over the last 300 (95% confidence interval 57-67%). Pool miners together account for about 34% of the same window. We track this publicly and will report it again as it changes.
