Alexander the Great visiting the Tomb of the Persian king Cyrus the Great c. 323 BC. Alexander admired Cyrus from an early age reading Xenophon's Cyropaedia, which described Cyrus's heroism in battle and governance as a king and legislator. A crisp autumn breeze caught her red curls and played with them about her flushed cheeks as she leaned on her bike. Wistfully she looked up, her memories flooding back to when he helped her build a fort in that beautiful tree and later he hung a swing from the most horizontal branch. Their childhood blossomed into a love that rooted deeply in all they had done and enjoyed together as children and then young adults. She soon learned that she preferred him to push her on the old swing than work alone, and it was much more pleasant to read to him aloud than silently to herself. One beautiful memory lead to another and tears started to flow as she let her mind wander to goodbyes in a train station, a handsome young man, dressed in uniform, holding her closely.
