Milan, Sunday. Piazza Duomo isn’t a runway, but today it might as well be. Not a single model in sight - only marathoners in Lycra, bib numbers pinned to their chests, and that familiar look of “I just run in the mornings… but somehow ended up doing 42 kilometres.”
Beneath the dome of soft morning sun and surrounded by Wizz Air’s rose-pink banners, the city shifted tempo. The usual clatter of espresso cups and designer heels gave way to the steady rhythm of thousands of running shoes. Milan was breathing differently - louder, quicker, and, somehow, more dramatically. It felt like the city had turned into a set piece for a film where everyone runs not from something, but towards something meaningful.
Saxophonists in tiny uniforms played with unexpected dignity. Guards stood poised in front of the Duomo, like extras in a Wes Anderson film awaiting their cue. And the crowd - international, vibrant, very much alive, swept through the city with grace, colour, and an almost cinematic sense of timing.
Today, the world ran. Literally. From start to finish, from one breath to the next. It was beautiful, moving, at times absurd... but always real.
We were there. We cheered. We filmed.
And as always, we remained behind the lens - with heavy backpacks, sharp frames, and the quiet certainty that this story would tell itself.

Last night, the Opening Ceremony took place at San Siro, marking the official start of the Milano Cortina 2026.
92 countries took part in the ceremony, which unfolded simultaneously across four live locations:
Milan, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Predazzo and Livigno — a first in Winter Games history.
From the largest delegations to the smallest teams, the message was clear:
one stage, one moment, equal respect.
This was more than a sporting ceremony.
It was culture, emotion and large-scale storytelling — unfolding in real time.
