Marine Combat Diver course. They do something similar in the SEALs albeit much more aggresive. During dive certification this is usually where a lot of dudes washout.

At random, instructors fuck your shit up and spin you around, you're not allowed todo anything back. IDK the process, but they teach a multi-step process to check the valves, hoses, and regulator, with enough confidence and training it's much less anxiety inducing.
