OPEN AT DAWN: ON MENTORSHIP

It is no news that mentorship shortens your journey to your destination. All the greatest people you know today, all had mentors.



The richest man in the world today and founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, would not be the man he is today without his mentor Tom Alberg. Bill Gates' mentor is Billionaire investor, Warren Buffet.



Visionary founder of Apple, the late Steve Jobs, credits his success to the Trillion Dollar Mentor, Bill Campbell. Even then, Mark Zuckerberg was also mentored by Steve Jobs before he passed away.



Even your very own VC, yours truly, stands on the shoulders of Mentors. It was because of my mentors, that my journey has was off to a flying start and I have enjoyed meteoric rise to the top of my space in a shorter amount of time than most.



When you read my profile, you would think that the things that are listed (which are only half the things I have achieved) were done over the space of 10 - 15 years, meanwhile it has only taken me 4 years.



I made my first million in 3 months when it took some of my mentors a year or more to make theirs. Why? Is it that I am better than them? Not really. It is because they have gone the path and now show me where to walk so I can avoid the mistakes they made.



Mentorship serves one major purpose: MISTAKE AVOIDANCE! One major reason why things take time to accomplish is mistakes. It takes time to correct a mistake and an even longer time trying to avoid them blindly.



But when someone who has been where you are, takes you by the hand and shows you the mistakes before you get there, YOU WILL FLY. This is why you MUST have mentors.



As a mentee and a mentor myself, I have gained the experiences from both sides, on how to find, attract and retain the best mentors in different industries. Today my life and business mentors include John Obidi, Olakunle Soriyan, Steve Harris, David Meltzer, Ryan Lee, Carrie Greene and more.



The quality of your mentors will determine the speed of your success. So it is important to learn how to find them, attract them and retain them.
