Do you understand why Southwest is in such trouble in getting their flights back on track? It has a lot to do with they way they run their operation. Planes are not on the ground for more than absolutely necessary in normal times because there is no money to be made when a plane is on the ground.

To do that, they run very tight schedules, and in normal times, that helps them to keep prices low and efficiency high.

Enter a winter storm and the entire system is messed up! Planes are not where they are needed. Flights cancelled. And it's taking them a LONG time to get back on track. It is the shortcoming of the system they run.
