✅Custodial deaths issue
According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, between 2001 and 2018, only 26 policemen were convicted of custodial violence despite 1,727 such deaths being recorded in India.
👉In Tamilnadu between 2012 to 2016>>157 custodial death recorded in SANTHAKULAM police station Tuthookudi.
The petitioner also stated that though only 1,303 deaths or disappearances were recorded ask per NCRB data, the National Human Rights Commission received complaints and reports of 24,043 custodial deaths/rapes between 2005-2006 to 2018-2019.

2. Criminal justice system- poor investigation skills of police and poor infrastructure and equipment at police station
3. Absence of Strong Legislation : India does not have an anti-torture legislation and is yet to criminalise custodial violence, while action against culpable officials remains illusory.
4. Effect movies of singham which shows praise for officials taking laws into hands for instant justice
5. Low human rights regime and pressure on government.
6. Pressure on police to solve the cases in limited time
7. Custodial deaths shown as a suicides.
📌SOLUTIONS-
1. ZERO TOLERANCE policy towards custodial deaths.
2. Adequate training and capacity building towards investigation and crime solving.
3. Implementation of every legal safeguards like right to medical examination , right to lawyer, right to inform to families right to be produced before a judicial magistrate and to complain of maltreatment or torture, limits on the duration of police custody.
4. India should ratify the UN Convention Against Torture: It will mandate a systematic review of colonial rules, methods, practices and arrangements for the custody.
5. Implentation of article 176(1A) of CrPC – magistate inquiry into custodial death.
6. Implementation of Law Commission of India’s 273rd Report : The report recommends that those accused of committing custodial torture – be it policemen, military and paramilitary personnel – should be criminally prosecuted instead of facing mere administrative action establishing
an effective deterrent.
📌Conclusion
Monitoring and implementation of DK Basu committee by independent and balanced civil society individuals at each level, under court supervision, is sufficient to minimise this scourge. It is high time we take actions in this direction. @missioncapfhub

✅Use of ‘NOT’ in statement to frame incorrect statement.
👉This is a relatively simpler trick which is again based on our core principle that it is hard to design wrong statements.
👉One of the simplest ways in which you can design a wrong statement is to pick up a list of things (A, B, C etc.) that a scheme/device/body does and add "not" in correct statement to make it wrong.
