“Gov. Mike DeWine has called for removing politicians from redistricting. So why is he working to defeat Issue 1 in November?”
Well, we have a pretty solid idea why…
Grassroots voters don’t trust DeWine, so when he comes out in “opposition” of an issue, they inherently think they should support it. That’s what he did last November, and that’s what he’s doing this November.
DeWine has every reason to support Issue 1 because it forces “proportionality” which will lead us to a place where the Republicans no longer have the majority required for a veto- over-ride of the Governor. HB 472 made voter eligibility determination a FOCUS and gave several remedies to use existing pending status, expand provisional status for deficient records, improve validation standards BEFORE entry onto the voter rolls- yet HERE WE ARE 60 days before an election! If LaRose had supported HB 552 and added citizenship/non-citizen validation, then we could have already passed this bill and be protected from ongoing registration fraud discovered across Ohio by 3rd party canvassers and stopping non-citizen voters.

Ohio election systems and processes are vulnerable to voter registration and absentee ballot fraud based on evidence of alleged bulk fraudulent submissions from canvassers employed by Black Fork Strategies. The basis for Ohio election vulnerabilities to voter records is reliance upon the “honor-system,” and rules put in place by Ohio Secretary of State LaRose that direct Boards of Elections to treat unvetted (non-validated) records as fully-qualified eligible electors authorized to sign petitions and vote absentee.
With tens of thousands of newly arrived non-citizens in Ohio (like Haitians) and over 250,000 records in question, Ohio’s elected officials must mitigate risk of exploitation and susceptibility to fraud in the election system by bad actors before early voting!
