STRATEGIES to TACKLE the LISTENING QUESTIONS

Short-Answer Questions

👉 "write your answer in NOT MORE THAN THREE WORDS"

👉 "Information transfer"

👉 "write your answer in NOT MORE THAN FIVE WORDS"

What you should do

🌸Skim through all the questions and the answer options to get a general idea of the text that you are going to listen to.

🌸Underline the keywords in the questions so that you know what to listen for.

Tips:
⚡do this before the listening test begins.

🌺While listening, pay attention to the content and the flow of information delivered by the speaker(s).

🌺Remember that the questions in Part 1 (Information Transfer) generally follow the order of information in the recording.

Tips:
⚡Pay attention to linkers/ connectors/ transitions that show relationship between ideas.

🌼Jot down important points or ideas. Write down your answers.

Tips:
⚡You may use abbreviations to help you write quickly when jotting down ideas. When writing answers, write in full.

🌻During the second listening, get the information that you might have missed originally. Check your answers too.

🌻Carry out a final check. Check for spelling and grammar. Make sure your answers are within the word limit.

❎ panic if you miss a question - continue with the next question and go back to the missed question later

❎ leave any answer blank

Multiple-Choice Questions
( Options A, B and C / A, B, C, and D )

🕷 These questions focus on main ideas, details, vocabulary or the writer's opinion.

🕸fokus on main ideas, details, vocabulary or the writer's opinion.

🕷 The questions follow the order of information given in the text, which may cover a section, a paraghraph or the whole text.

What you should do

🌷 Underline the keywords in the question. Use them to locate the information in the text.

🌷 Skim through the text until you come to the part or section needed to answer the question.

🌷 Check each possible answer option given carefully.

🌷 Remember some of the most likely answers may have been paraphrased.

🌷 Some of the vocabulary given in the options is found in the text. Only one of the options is the most suitable response to the question.

Please don't put a negative thinking in yourself. Never phyco your brains with toxic talk like "I dont know Eng", "I might doomed for tomorrow test, "I'm so afraid and can't do the best for the exam. No, no, no, no and please don't.

Yes, everyone wants to get the higher band, I know how u felt. But trust me if u keeping pressure yourself with thinking what gonna happen tomorrow, then u can't perform well. U just make yourself be more stressed. Learn how to keep yourself calm down, okey?

Just one keyword my dear students. BELIEVE, believe in yourself and ur brains. If you dont believe in yourself, so who gonna trust and believe u? IF YOU DONT THEN WHO WILL? Keep praying for best. No matter what are ur religion, dont forget to get a bliss from ur parents and tcher before enter the exam hall.

Tbh, I dunno how to persuade people and or how boost your self-esteem. I can't talk too much coz I dont know how your life. I'm not a sweet talker too but I'll try some and I'm so sorry if I couldn't motivate u.

I can give u motivation but just know one thing. The self-motivation is the best medicine in the world. So please STOP down grade yourself OR compare yourself with others.
