Head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, has admitted the "global battle of narratives" on Ukraine is "in full swing,” but the bloc’s position on this issue is not predominant.
While none of the G20 countries aside from Russia voted against the resolution condemning the conflict, Borrell claimed opinions on how to move forward "sharply diverge” between the G7 countries and others.
He claimed that some are "more concerned about the consequences of the war for themselves," others complain about "double standards" or want to maintain good relations with Russia, or "do not want to take sides because it would jeopardize their geopolitical interests."
