tram car passes the Federal Coffee Palace at the south-west corner of Collins and King Streets, circa 1890.

Why are there hardly any people?
Why are the buildings so big?
Why does the ground level not match with the building?
NOTICE the odd looking telegraph pole.
AND
NO WIRES ???
And what exactly is making the tram operate when there are no visible wires?

Take a look at this short clip NOTE WELL THE "TELEGRAPH POLES" and the size of those buildings in Melbourne all built with horse and cart ... bloody astounding that!~
in setting slow down the speed to .25 make sure you really take in the view.

GPO Building Melbourne cnr Elizabeth and Bourke
We are told construction began 1861 ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”
With a population at that time of 37,000 people ... ๐Ÿค”

Some them must have been farmers,
Some of them must have women,
Some of them must have children ... such a small population and the construction of this building along with many others was the priority something donโ€™t add up here folks.

37 000 people in 1861
