The action guide, โ€˜Playing My Partโ€™, is to be widely distributed across the EU.
It is presented as a multi-purpose plan that will help cut household bills, reduce reliance on Russian energy, support Ukraine and support climate action.

โ€œYou save money, you push Russia back, you are on the front line with the Ukrainians against Russia and at the same time you reduce emissions,โ€ Dr Birol said.

The nine-point guide calls for turning down heating by one degree, returning to or maintaining work from home policies, reducing speed limits on main roads and implementing car-free Sundays.

Assange Extradition: China FM DESTROYS US โ€œFreedom of Speechโ€

Chinese FM spox Wand Wenbin has claimed Julian Assangeโ€™s extradition exposes the โ€œhypocritical nature of the US governmentโ€ better than WikiLeaksโ€™ revelations themselves.

โ€œHe who exposes the so-called atrocities of other countries is a hero, but he who reveals the scandals of the US is a criminal,โ€ he said.

Beijing said Washington has shown its "true face."

Maine potato growers expecting hit after Belfast fire

Latest example of spontaneous combustion of our food supply: see #fire tag:

The large fire at a potato processing plant in Belfast is expected to have ripple effects across Maineโ€™s agriculture industry.

The Penobscot McCrum plant processed Maine-grown spuds into products sold around the country.

A fire tore through the building Thursday morning, destroying the facility and leaving the 138 people who work there without a job.

Don Flannery, executive director of the Maine Potato Board, said the loss of the plant will have a negative impact on the stateโ€™s potato growers. โ€œThere are producers across the state who have contracts with the plant who may need to make adjustments to their 2022 growing plans after the fire.
