That huricaine came ashore in the redneck rivera of Florida late last night. It's moving fast over land now.... the eye seems to be at the GA-TN state line. The eastern half of the storm gave parts of south carolina a pretty good licking... only 327 people in Newberry county have power this morning.

Self helplessness. The wind blew two trees across rail road tracks. There's an article in the news about the train being stranded there for 15 hours. People calling customer service from the train and bitching.
This is straight out of Atlas Shrugged.... you mean to tell me that 1) track maint is so poor that this happened in the first place? 2)that a maint crew couldn't get out there in less than 15 hours? 3) that 3 grown ass men on the train couldn't push those trees off the tracks?
The crews are apathetic... and the passengers could be stranded on an escalator. Maybe next time they should write a sternly worded letter to AMTRACK instead of calling customer service!

I'll have to rig a string line from end to end so all these rails are on the same plane. Also, I've got 100 more mounting feet to put up.
It ain't pretty, but I started putting rails on the roof of the barn today. Turns out the first perlen on the eve of the roof isn't on the same plane as the trusses. So I had to climb up inside the barn wall a shim with a piece of pressure treated 2x4 that we skinned down to 3/8" thick. Took most of the after noon to just get that bottom row mounted.
Also, note the "belt and suspenders" approach to water proofing. There's a big fat EDPM washer under each of the L bracket feet and also a diagonal stripe of caulk to divert water around the washer.

Top graph is battery SoC for the last two days. Middle graph is two DC 48v solar chargers. Note that at the exact time the battery hits 100%, one of the DC chargers curtails it's production. This is the only way I have to limit the amount of power I export from the house system. The bottom graph is two AC coupled inverters, one 6kw and one 3.8kw.
I sure hate giving up power from that DC charger in the after noon, but at least I have it available when the batteries need charged.

Wife and I decided to start bee keeping. We ordered a dozen bees and we counted 13. I call the place and told them we got an extra bee and he said that was a free-bee.
