We are missing about 30 chicks from one coop this morning. We have the new hatched chicks in 3 coops around... one coop in the pasture was being picked off by the hawks and we enclosed it last weekend. This morning one of the coops in the barn yard has only a dozen still in it. My first thought was the hawks can't eat the ones in the pasture so they moved their dinner table. But there are no feathers or blood or any signs something is wrong. There is no way terrestrial animal got in... top of fence is electric and no signs of digging.
I hate to think the worst of people, but the only new people who've been here were the mexicans that did the roof on the barn last week. But I overflew the back entrance of the pasture and there are no tire tracks in the dew... and the dogs weren't barking last night.
I'm very perplexed. Should be fun when truly hungry people don't harm YOU but only wanna slip in a steal a chicken or a goat. Food for thought.....

DIY Rubber Ground Sheet: Civil War Gum Blanket for Survival & Camping
In this video, we demonstrate how to create a DIY rubber ground sheet inspired by the Civil War-era gum blanket. Using a 60" x 80" piece of muslin, brass grommets, and Rustoleum's rubberized spray for waterproofing, this versatile piece of gear can serveβ¦

Interesting problem here.... it's a good problem to have.... as we get into the fall in the northern hemisphere, the sun is a little lower each day at noon. My panels are tilted to be optimized for winter and this means that each day at noon they make a little more power on peak. Solar noon here is 1:30pm. At 1:37 today I was making 262amps (14.4kw) into the batteries.
In this graph we have 12 noon unil 2pm... you can see production is up and down as it was raining and the sun would burst thru the clouds. Since my system was making more power at that moment than my battery could absorb, the system went on grid at 1:47pm and started exporting power AND charging the batteries (the flat line). Indeed this is a good problem to have.

Just saw a video where a guy tried to make a 48v generator with two 24v alternators. It would work if he electrically isolated the two alternators' frames from each other. You see the alternator frame is ground. Anyway, I had never thought of this, but it would work. https://a.co/d/hxDQAJD . two of these properly done in series would make 70amps @ 48vdc... that's 3,8kw....
But just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do something. If he got a predator generator from Harbor Fraught he could feed it into one of the signature solar 5kw DC chargers (turned down a little bit).... .and then he'd have a generator for use around the farm instead of a one trick pony.
