This is a combination square. You can use it with a pencil to draw straight lines along the ruler. But you can also use the thumbscrew to adjust the ruler in and out. For example, you can set the ruler to two inches and then lock down the thumbscrew. Now you can run the fat metal part of the square along the edge of a piece of wood and use your pencil on the end of the ruler to draw a straight line two inches from the edge.

But wait there's more... what if you forgot your pencil? There's a small awl in the handle that can be used to score wood or leave a scratch on metal!
Fun reading for the kids.

Have you ever seen a pencil that isn't round? This is called a carpenter's pencil. The lead is thicker so you can press harder to make darker marks. And the best part? It doesn't roll off the table!

This knot will come in handy both in fishing and when tying small parts through a small eyelet.

Note that you can tie tackle in this way, several pieces at a time, for the entire length of the fishing line as well.
