Ocean Data Farming (DF) is like DeFi liquidity mining, but tuned to drive Data Consume Volume (DCV) in the Ocean ecosystem.
Your actions: 🔒Lock OCEAN → get veOCEAN → earn Data Farming rewards💰
Each week, DF emits OCEAN: 50% to passive rewards and 50% to active rewards.
Passive rewards go to veOCEAN holders with no additional actions
Active rewards go to veOCEAN holders who have pointed their veOCEAN to data assets with high Data Consume Volume (DCV).
Typical APYs are 5–20%, but may be as high as 45% and as low as 1%. APYs will vary week to week.
APY depends on total OCEAN staked, duration of OCEAN lock, DCV, and other factors.
*Green = APY from active+passive.
Black = APY from passive.
Yellow = estimated OCEAN locked
To get high APY you need high DCV.
So, to max out your APY:
- create & publish & sell truly useful datasets
- OR consume the datasets
Then go stake on these datasets, and get your sweet, sweet APY 🍬
Truly useful datasets close the data value-creation loop (shown).
As of DF29 -- the DF Main Launch -- wash consume is no longer profitable.
So, one can no longer publish & "fake" consume one's own assets to make a buck.
