The strikes were conducted by the Saudi Air Force as “tit-for-tat” responses after Saudi Arabia was targeted, though the exact targets inside Iran remain unclear.

The proposed name change would allow the administration to argue that renewed fighting constitutes a new military operation, effectively restarting the 60-day congressional authorization clock under the 1973 War Powers Resolution.
Although Trump has not yet approved renewed hostilities, officials said the ongoing blockade is currently giving Washington leverage without major combat operations. One official warned, however, that “the status quo will not persist.”
