Two days ago, I missed out on what would have been a very major opportunity due to my opposition of how the Iran War has been conducted. Due to the professionalism in which this was handled by the counterparty, I will refrain from specifics, but I want to address here why I am proud to have missed out on this:
For many people, particularly those of us who live in the United States, the cost of this war is measured in dollars and cents. Increased gas prices. Higher costs at the grocery store. Things such as these are but trivial matters compared to what the rest of the world is faced with.
For those in Africa and Asia, this conflict is not measured in higher prices, it is measured in human lives. And this will eventually spread to the United States as well.
How many people will die from taking their own lives as a result of job loss in a global recession?
How many people in the African continent will die from starvation as a result of poor crop yields due to the global fertilizer crisis?
How many people in Asia will die because hospitals are not able to function due to the global energy crisis?
To stay silent when the stakes are this high would be morally reprehensible. To not speak out against flawed strategy from Washington would be treasonous.
While many Americans view this through the lens of “pain at the pump”, let me make very clear that this crisis will not be measured in dollars and cents, but measured in loss of human life. tweet
