▪️ The country’s new parliamentary speaker, Zoran Stevanović, said he plans to organize a referendum on leaving the alliance.

▪️ He argued that Slovenia should pursue an independent policy and avoid involvement in external conflicts.

▪️ Stevanović also noted plans to visit Moscow, stating his position is not “pro-Russian” but focused on protecting Slovenia’s interests.

▪️ No final decision on holding the referendum has been made, and any actual withdrawal from NATO would be a lengthy process.

All he has to do is normalize Budapest's relationships with Brussels, Warsaw and Kyiv and he'll be a transformative figure. I suspect he'll do the same with Washington, too, as many of his policies will find favor in this White House once it gets over the loss of Orban, including on border security and energy independence.
