A pair of Russia-supplied Mil Mi-28 attack helicopters operated by the Iranian military spotted somewhere over Iran.

Video undated, though appeared today and claimed to be new. https://twitter.com/Archer83Able/status/2043707713339732042/video/1

🇷🇺🇮🇷 It is believed that Iran has received the first batch of Mil Mi-28NE attack helicopters ordered in Russia.

Photos of a Mil Mi-28 helicopter in digital desert camo stationed in a hangar have emerged on social media.

The arrival of the first Havocs in Iran was also indicated by a defense reporter for Iranian state-controlled Tasnim news agency earlier in January 2026.

The deal to acquire an unspecified number of Mil Mi-28 helicopters by Iran was first announced in November 2023.

British PM Keir Starmer:

"While the ceasefire between the US, Israel, and Iran is undeniably welcome, it is also highly fragile. We call for Lebanon to be included urgently in the ceasefire. Diplomacy is the right path, and I welcome the talks taking place this week. Hezbollah must disarm. But I'm equally clear: Israel's strikes are wrong. They are having devastating humanitarian consequences and pushing Lebanon into a crisis. The bombing should stop now."

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer:

"We hope the process will continue without further escalation. And that applies to the running sore that is the Strait of Hormuz, shamefully exploited by Iran."

"All of the leaders that I met were crystal clear that freedom of navigation is vital and must be restored, no conditions, no tolls and no tolerance of Iran holding the world's economy to ransom."

"The impact of Iran's behavior in the Strait is causing untold economic damage."

Russia has begun to lose its momentum in military recruitment. This is already evident even from their own statistics. According to German researcher Janis Kluge, who tracks these figures, recruitment rates in 2026 have dropped by approximately 20% compared to 2025. While Russia was recruiting 1,000-1,200 contract soldiers per day in the first quarter of 2025, that number fell to just 800-1,000 per day by early 2026. This is happening despite the fact that Russians continue to increase sign-on bonuses and contract payments. Russia's current war system is built on commercial recruitment, but this model is beginning to stall.
