Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, says in a post earlier on X that this weekend’s peace talks in Islamabad were “not an event but a process,” providing a much more optimistic view of the recent talks than U.S. Vice President JD Vance and other Iranian officials, stating that the talks “laid the foundation” of a future peace agreement with the United States.

According to the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the situation, U.S. President Donald J. Trump is considering resuming limited strikes inside Iran as a method to break the current impasse in the peace talks process with Iran. Per the report, a less likely scenario, that is also on the table, is resuming high tempo strikes on Iran as well. Should such measures be employed, they would be in addition to the blockade of maritime traffic from Iranian ports announced earlier by U.S. Central Command.
