According to the Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed administration officials, the White House is considering a plan to punish NATO countries who didn’t aid the U.S. and Israel in operations against Iran. The proposal includes moving U.S. forces out of NATO member states who failed to aid in operations against Iran. The plan is only in its early phases but has support amongst senior Trump administration officials, per the report.

According to Secretary Healey, the operation involved one Russian Akula-class attack submarine and two Russian submarines associated with Russia’s Main Directorate of Deep-Sea Research (GUGI). According to Healey, a Royal Navy warship and a Royal Air Force P-8 were deployed to monitor all three submarines, after which the Akula-class sub retreated from the area, but according to the secretary, the two GUGI-associated submarines remain on task in the area and are currently being monitored.
