The problem is, people keep continuing with phase 1 only till December and then at max 1 month for practice. Uske baad prelims ka darr shuru ho jata and mains failure cycle continues.

Most common issue, I am observing is, students are saying ethics pehle kahi se kiya tha, theory sab dekh rakhi hai. Ab answer likhna chah rhe toh samjh nhi aara kya likhe. Total blank.
That's the most fundamental problem in mains prep. Log padhte pehle hai, uske baad answer likhne ka sochte hai. Aur fir likhe nhi jate. Bahut redundant content yaad karlete hai.
SIP is about, answer likhne ka pehle dekho, uss process mein jo jo theory padhni hai, kewal usse utha ke padh lo. Taki faltu cheeze padho hi nhi, or sidha jo padha hai vo answer me likho. Efficient system!!!

Writing Style of Essay mainly depends on 2 factors:
1. What is your way of presenting the ideas?
2. Nature of the Essay Topic.
Now both these factors necessitates that, there cannot be any "uniform " writing style. But aspirants try to forcefully incorporate the writing style of "other" people and it eventually leads to incoherence in the orderly fashion. This is because, neither the topic is same, nor the writing style is same..
This is the reason why essay score drops in next attempt despite preparing more. But this normally doesn't happen to people who follow their own natural style.
