1. US Inflation and Federal Reserve Policy
The latest US Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) report showed that inflation increased by 0.5% in September, compared with 0.3% in August. This reinforces concerns that inflation remains persistent and strengthens expectations that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates in December.
Although the Fed kept interest rates unchanged at its October meeting, policymakers' cautious stance and expectations of further tightening have reduced gold's appeal as a non-yielding asset.
2. Strong US Economic Growth Supports the Dollar
US economic growth remains relatively resilient, with third-quarter GDP expanding at an annualized rate of 3.4%, stronger than expected. This economic strength gives the Federal Reserve more room to maintain restrictive monetary policy, potentially supporting the US dollar and limiting gold's recovery.
3. The H1 timeframe shows a gradual decline, with the price moving further away from the EMA (exponential moving average). Selling pressure persists below 4000 as the weekly and monthly candles close today.
