I looked at an old picture of myself today,
and it hurt more than I expected.
Not because I miss how I looked,
but because the person in that photo still smiled without forcing it.
They still looked like someone who had never begged themselves to keep going.
And I couldn't stop thinking about everything that was about to happen to that person.
Everything they were about to lose.
There's no way the person in that picture would recognize me now.
And I swear, the person in that picture deserved more than becoming me.

Hidden Sins, Hidden Mercy
Sometimes I feel embarrassed when people call me a good person, because deep down, I know the parts of myself they cannot see.
The truth is, I am not as good as people think I am. I have made mistakes, fallen into sins, and struggled with things I would never want anyone to know. If people see goodness in me, it is not because I am deserving of their praise. It is because Allah SWT, in His immense mercy, has concealed my sins.
He has protected my dignity when I could have been exposed. He has allowed people to see the little good in me while hiding the countless flaws within me. And that thought humbles me.
So when someone calls me a good person, I don't want it to make me proud. I want it to make me gratefulβand afraid of becoming the person they think I am without ever becoming better before Allah.
May I never mistake Your Ψ³ΨͺΨ± for my own righteousness. And may I spend the rest of my life becoming worthy of the mercy You have already shown me.

What is a subtle sin?
Pretending.
Pretending to be loyal when your heart is not. Pretending to be a friend when your intentions are not sincere. Pretending to be kind when kindness does not live within you. Pretending to be helpless when you are simply avoiding responsibility.
Pretending to be someone you are not may fool others for a while, but it can never fool the truth.
Be real. Be honest. Be yourself.

Not a single night goes by without me stressing about my future. Guess thatβs the price of wanting more.
