In a famous story, a man once spat on the Buddha in anger. The Buddha simply smiled. When the man returned the next day to beg for forgiveness, the Buddha said:

At some point, I have grown really tired of listening to what people say they believe, it's better to just observe how they conduct themselves in real life.

Maybe that’s why I’ve started caring less about people altogether and more about ideas. People are imperfect and will certainly, always disappoint. Which is fine, that's how life goes. Ideas on the other hand, at best can be eye-opening or mind blowing, and at worst can at least still be interesting.
