AP Police have arrested two men from Jammu & Kashmir on charges of espionage and alleged links with Pakistan-based handlers, officials said on Thursday. The arrests came after one of the suspects, Nazir Ahmad Malik, a resident of Kupwara district, was found collecting and transmitting sensitive military and paramilitary movement details from within Arunachal Pradesh. Police say Malik was detained on November 22 from a rented house in Ganga village after “credible and actionable” intelligence, and he admitted sharing troop deployment information and details about army installations through encrypted Telegram channels. Based on information from Malik, a second person, Sabir Ahmed Mir, also from Kupwara, was later arrested in Itanagar’s Abotani Colony area. The case is being investigated under national security laws, and both are in judicial custody as authorities probe possible wider networks and objectives.
