Police say Malik was detained on November 22 from a rented house in Ganga village after “credible and actionable” intelligence, and he admitted sharing troop deployment information and details about army installations through encrypted Telegram channels. Based on information from Malik, a second person, Sabir Ahmed Mir, also from Kupwara, was later arrested in Itanagar’s Abotani Colony area. The case is being investigated under national security laws, and both are in judicial custody as authorities probe possible wider networks and objectives.
