Level 8 week starts tomorrow at 1700 UTC. Confused about what time that is for you? Here's a map, or you can also check out our countdown timer at https://notnianticlabs.com/2023/08/01/level-8-week-event/
Happy anomaly weekend everyone. Longer linking under fields is possible until 1700 UTC Monday. Best of luck to everyone in Oslo, Charleston, and Seoul.

NotNiantic will not be on the ground anywhere this weekend, but there's a good reason for that. Hope to see folks again in person later this year.
Niantic is ramping up Ingress events for Q4. The Discoverie XM Anomaly series has multiple ways for agents to be involved around the globe, plus the #IngressYear11 Event is happening in the middle of it all, giving us an unusually busy calendar for November.
Although the thrill of attending an XM anomaly in person is one of the greatest pleasures Ingress has to offer, Niantic has given agents a couple of extra ways to earn the Discoverie badge and contribute to their faction's performance. If you can't attend in person (or even if you can), complete 30 Kinetic programs from Oct 15 - Nov 17 and/or reclaim 100 Machina portals from Nov 19 - Dec 15.
The Discoverie anomaly is this weekend. Best of luck to agents on the ground in Madrid, Taichung, and Curitiba. For agents not in those cities, your first opportunity to earn the anomaly medal starts at 0000 UTC Oct 15. If you are confused what time that is for you, we have a map.

There's also a countdown running at notnianticlabs.com if your timezone isn't listed.

Keep in mind that Daylight Saving Time will end in many northern hemisphere cities between Oct 15 and Nov 17, so the time for the end may differ from this map.

Note: an earlier version of this map had an error for Curitiba time.

Sorry I've been a little quiet recently - who knew that taking care of a tiny human would make it hard to find time for making and sharing information on Ingress events?

Anyway, apparently there is going ot be a new event called Chronos starting December 6 - and while details aren't out, Niantic has dropped some hints that the event may involve overclock hacks, so I figured it was long past time to release a video explaining overclock hacks for those who haven't had a chance to do it themselves.
The Chronos event details have been announced. You can earn the badge without overclock hacks, but it's a lot faster with them. Up to 40 points for each overclock hack means as few as 125 overclock hacks can earn the highest tier. Or capture and mod 1667 portals over the month.

If you haven't yet, check out the NotNiantic video on overclock hacking: https://youtu.be/HkscKOjK14Y
As some may have noticed, the original Chronos rules could have yielded more points for uncalibrated hacks than calibrated hacks before a portal reached burnout. Niantic has changed the rules, so now uncalibrated hacks only get 1/4 the points for completed glyph sequences.

This updated infographic has the new point values for uncalibrated hacks.
I'm continuing to do the twitch stream thing. I have a bunch of 5-glyph and 3-glyph sequences available on demand. I'll be going out in just a little bit to do some 4-glyph sequences.

In addition to the overclock hacks, I also plan stream an AP generator with battle beacons this evening, and possibly part of an anomaly this weekend, so stay tuned.

Off to Honolulu for Discoverie! If you’re there, say hi and on Sunday I’ll have some swag to give away.

If you’re not there, you may want to check out my twitch. Conditions permitting, I’ll stream some of the anomaly action.
Good morning Honolulu. The Ingress XM anomaly starts here in about 6 hours. I’ll be streaming on twitch periodically throughout the day to give a sense of what an anomaly is like. These will mostly be brief check-ins as the battle takes priority, but I’ll start with a longer explainer before the event starts at 8AM HST (about 15 minutes from now).

The anomaly battles are over. My team was an amazing international group of Ingress veterans, who were not too visibly unhappy about me periodically stepping away to stream on twitch.

Win or lose, I couldn’t have had a better day. We are waiting for the scores, I think it’s going to be really close and come down to the global challenge multiplier.

Anyway catch my streams on demand, and probably one more to come tonight after the scores are announced.

Congratulations to the Enlightened. Even with the Resistance capturing the global challenge multiplier, the Enlightened managed to win both Honolulu and the Discoverie series overall. It was still a great time as always.

Now it’s time for the after party, and then Mission Day tomorrow. If you are here in Honolulu, be sure to find me. I have a great swag package I’ll be giving away (details to be posted in the morning). Or say hi any time and I’ll give you a bio card and maybe some other stuff.
The first swag drop is down. If you’re following my twitch you know where this is. If not, you can still probably figure it out if you’re doing missions

Edit: First one has been claimed. Heading out to do more missions. And more drops.
Do an overclock hack on this mission portal to find a neat little prize

Edit: this one has been claimed. Still more to come
You can’t do an overclock hack form a drone, but you can get a drone pin by overlock hacking this iconic Waikiki statue.

Edit: this one went fast! No surprise there. At least 2 more drops to go.
Another dead drop on another overclockable mission portal. This one is hidden a bit better than the rest. I’m not going to babysit it this time, so please message me if you find it.

Edit: Just walked back past it and it’s still there.

Edit 2: claimed. One more left. After lunch
