Since my post caused a tornado of endless arguing yesterday. I want to be clear on where I stand on this...
The fault was CLEARLY at the hands of the 2 disgusting human beings that attempted to commit the crime. They deserve no pity or justification. They were dregs if society and they wonโt be missed.
The police officers involved in the final shootout were put in an extremely difficult and almost impossible position. I wasnโt there so I can only give my thoughts from the bleachers. I canโt begin to fathom what that situation was like and the amount of stress and the kind of lightning fast decision-making process that needs to be done in order to keep the public safe from this scum. That being said...
This incident proves that police officers are human. Theyโre not a special species of the human race that are not prone to making mistakes. But they ARE held to a higher standard. They are expected to remove emotion out of the equation and think rationally. Surrounding a vehicle from all sides with weapons that can can pierce through that tin can like butter was a HUGE mistake. Using occupied civilian vehicles as cover was an extremely dangerous precedent and a reckless act of of needless endangerment of the public. Again I canโt imagine what it takes to make these decisions on the fly like that. But I do know that better decisions could have been made.
Not a single one of us know if they outcome would have been different if these mistakes werenโt made. But this isnโt a team sport guys and gals. It isnโt black or white. But we must dissect our thoughts piece by piece and not make decisions based on on emotion. We are logical people...weโre Americans and weโve become the best country in the world because of that.
I commend all that weโre involved here but...mistakes were made. Letโs do better moving forward. Weโre Gods creatures and we are not perfect...we were never meant to be.
