With just a week left before classes begin, the Ontario government has sent guidelines to post-secondary institutions instructing them to have mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policies in place effective Sept. 7.

President Vladimir Putin says he opposes mandatory Covid vaccinations for Russians, but has urged the population to get vaccinated voluntarily.

After mounting calls by unions, local medical officers and health care workers the Ontario government established a province-wide COVID-19 vaccine certificate system.

There were 54 persons aged 25-39 included in the tally and 44 persons aged 40 and over

Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole is reversing his platform policy on firearms and says the party will maintain the Liberal government's ban on assault-style weapons. He is promising a public review of the Firearms Act classification system.

O'Toole says he would work with provinces to devise a national proof-of-vaccination system, adding such a setup would help Canadians during international travel.
