DuckDuckGo Beat Bing to Become Android’s Main Google Alternative in Europe
https://beebom.com/duckduckgo-beat-bing-to-become-androids-main-google-alternative-in-europe/
Following the European Commission’s antitrust ruling against Google last March, the US tech giant is being forced to offer Android users in the EU multiple search engine options to choose from. As part of the plans, people in the region will get to choose their default search engine from at least four options while setting up their Android devices from March 1.
While one of the options will, obviously, be Google itself, the others would vary from one country to another based on the money these operators are willing to pay Google to get on the so-called ‘Choice Screen’ – the options list that was designed in consultation with the European Commission and, will be presented to Android handset users in the region when setting up their device for the first time.
Now that the highest bidders have been announced, Microsoft’s Bing seems to have lost out to the independent, privacy-focused service, DuckDuckGo, which has carved out a niche for itselfamong netizens concerned about their online privacy. According to the official list, DuckDuckGo will be an option in all the EU countries, while Bing will be conspicuous by its absence. The only place in Europe where Microsoft’s search engine will be offered is the UK, where DuckDuckGo and Info.com will be the other third-party options. You can hop over to the official Android blog to see the entire list or know more about the Choice Screen.
It’s worth noting here that Ecosia, a search engine run by an environmental advocacy group that claims to plant trees around the world with its search profits, boycotted the entire auction process, saying that Google’s actions violated “the spirit of the EU ruling”. In a press statement, its CEO and founder Christian Kroll further said that the company will register an official complaint with EU legislators against the US tech giant

Again: Very unlikely, based on past SnoopSnitch measurements.
You can install SnoopSnitch to monitor for suspicious incoming binary SMS. For the network attack detection features to work, you need to have a rooted Android phone with a Qualcomm chipset.

🚨🚨US Clearing Anti-War Voices Off the Web in Vast Censorship Operation
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo discussed "foreign policy challenges" and economic security with The Silicon Valley Leadership Group today amid vast censorship of Iran-related content.
The United States and its media company allies want to make it impossible to hear from the other side.
🚨YouTube Removes PressTV as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter Censor Iran-Related Content
YouTube has removed all PressTV videos except for PressTV Francais.
As the US escalates its hybrid wars, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram are suspending accounts and censoring content that conflicts with Washington’s pro-war narrative.

TIFU by creating a fake Instagram account, What’s App notified my contacts
As the title says I tried to create a secret Instagram to follow escort and other naughty accounts. I’m a girl and idolise these brave, sexy women... might be a bit bi-sexual as well, anyway... I thought I was being pretty slick, hiding my naughty side from my friends and family that follow me on social media.
The fuck up was What’s App helpfully sending a notification to ALL my contacts that I’d created a new Instagram, I’d registered for the account using my phone number. I’m lucky as I only talk to a few people via What’s App and I’m pretty close with them so they’re not going to make a fuss
I’m still so embarrassed, my only saving grace is a used a normal sounding name instead of “sexy kitty” which I originally wanted to use so hopefully it just looks like I wanted a fresh start.
I’m a pretty private person and to be honest this has put me off What’s App, I recently learned it’s owned by Facebook which I avoid like the plague thanks to watching Edward Snowden’s movie. Maybe that’s common knowledge to all of you, but it was news to me.
TL;DR I created a fake Instagram, What’s App notified my contacts
Any-who, hoped you enjoyed my little story, now back to bed. All of you.
