🇵🇸It’s Bisan From Gaza, And Israel Is Forcing Everyone To The Desert'

Israel has shifted the so-called “safe zone” again. First Khan Younis was supposedly safe, but after continuous bombing, Palestinians are now being forced into the barren sands of al-Mawasi.

The narrow strip of land, about the size of the airport, is where Israel wants Gaza’s 2.3 million civilians to relocate to. But the small, undeveloped zone has no infrastructure for safety or survival.

As Bisan Owda shows us, there is no clean water to drink and not enough fuel to keep people warm.

Tom Dawson, Deputy Secretary-General of the International Federation of Journalists, to Ultra Palestine speaking about Israel's targeting of journalists in Gaza: "It seems that Israel has a targeting system supported by artificial intelligence, called Gospel (in Hebrew, HabSoura), which allows for such precise killing and tracks individuals as they return to their homes and workplaces."( text source @QudsNen)

🇵🇸It’s Bisan From Gaza, And People Were Tortured At The Indonesian Hospital’ | AJ+

Video journalist Bisan Owda brings us exclusive eyewitness testimonies from survivors she spoke to in December who described the Israeli army’s torture and killing of wounded patients and doctors at the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza.

One of northern Gaza’s largest hospitals, the facility was under siege for days in November and may never open again. While some patients in critical condition were allowed to evacuate the hospital, survivors recall torture even on the evacuation route. Israel has targeted more than 150 health care facilities in Gaza since Oct 7. The targeting of hospitals is a violation of international humanitarian law.

🇵🇸 Ghassan Kanafani: Voice of Palestine (1936-1972) - Palestine Chronicle –

Kanafani was one of the most important figures in 20th century literature. He was also a refugee, a revolutionary Marxist and an internationalist. The Israelis claimed the assassination was a response to the Lod Airport attack two months earlier, although Kanafani had played no direct role in this. He was, according to the obituary in the Lebanese Daily Star, ‘a commando who never fired a gun, whose weapon was a ball-point pen, and his arena the newspaper pages.’ Kanafani was at the time of his death the official spokesman of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the editor of its paper #AlHadaf. The organisation saluted ‘the leader, the writer, the #strategist, and the visionary.

🇵🇸 Ghassan Kalafani | Palestine Poster Project Archive

Kanafani’s revolutionary journey began with the Arab Nationalist Movement but was cut short due to his disillusionment with its Pan-Arab agendas, which blurred and scattered the Palestinian identity in the process of creating a unified Arab geographical and political continuum.

It is by becoming a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in 1967 and especially helped by being the founder/editor of the widely circulated weekly Al-Hadaf, that Ghassan Kanafani transcended Arabism to Palestinianism.

Note : he was also the author of some of the very early FPLP posters (1968/69/70) & Paintings - Drawings

🇵🇸 Ghassan Kanafani and The Era of Revolutionary Palestinian Media | The Listening Post (Feature) Al Jazeera 2020

Ghassan Kanafani was a Palestinian writer who, through books like Men in the Sun, humanised the Palestinian condition of dispossession and displacement. He was, however, first and foremost a #journalist.

He was also a product of 1960s Beirut - a period when the city was a magnet for young reporters, revolutionaries, migrants and misfits, as well as host to the Palestinian leadership in exile. It was in #Beirut that Kanafani produced #AlHadaf, a forward-thinking Palestinian #magazine, that has been somewhat lost in the mists of time.

The Listening Post's Tariq Nafi reports from Beirut, #Lebanon, on the #legacy of Ghassan Kanafani and the era of Palestinian #revolutionary #media.

🇵🇸 Reuters photographer Mohammed Salem won the 2024 World Press Photo of the Year award for his image of a Palestinian woman cradling the body of her five-year-old niece in the Gaza Strip.

The picture was taken on 17 October 2023 at the Nasser hospital in Khan Younis.

The image shows Inas Abu Maamar, 36, holding the body of her niece Saly, who was killed along with her mother and sister when an Israeli missile hit their home in Khan Younis.

“The jury commented on how the image was composed with care and respect, offering at once a metaphorical and literal glimpse into unimaginable loss,” the World Press Photo Foundation said.
