Riccardo Spagni, the former maintainer of the Monero (XMR) cryptocurrency, was arrested last month in Nashville, Tennessee on fraud charges tied to alleged offenses in South Africa between 2009 and 2011.

Spagni was on board a private jet scheduled to fly to Los Cabos, Mexico when he was apprehended in Nashville during a scheduled refueling stop, according to court documents. His journey originally began just outside of New York City. He is currently in the custody of the U.S. Attorney General, according to court documents.

"In accordance with Article 13 of the Treaty, the Government of South Africa has asked the United States for the provisional arrest of Riccardo Paolo SPAGNI a/k/a Ricardo Paolo Spagni (“SPAGNI” or the “fugitive”) with a view toward his extradition."

"SPAGNI was employed by Cape Cookies CC ("Cape Cookies") from October 1, 2009, to June 8, 2011 as its Information Technology Manager (IT Manager). SPAGNI’s employment
with Cape Cookies terminated by mutual agreement. As an employee of Cape Cookies, SPAGNI intercepted invoices from another company, Ensync, relating to information technology goods and services it had supplied Cape Cookies. SPAGNI knowingly used false information to fabricate similar invoices purporting to be from Ensync, relying on details including this company's Value Added Tax (VAT) number and bank account information. SPAGNI then inflated the prices for the goods and/or services. SPAGNI knowingly submitted the falsified invoices to Cape Cookies’ finance
department and fraudulently represented that they were true and proper records, expecting that the amount listed as due would be paid to the supplier reflected, and into the bank account
detailed, on the invoice."

📡@G3News: Millions of struggling Americans nationwide are now facing the prospect Monday of being evicted from their homes after a national ban—which kept landlords from kicking out renters fiscally devastated by COVID-19— expired over the weekend.

The ban, imposed more than a year ago by the CDC and repeatedly challenged in federal court, expired at the end of Saturday. President Joe Biden, who in the past supported extending the moratorium on a month-to-month basis, declined to call for another extension.

Evictions, therefore, are expected to begin en masse on Monday with the ban's expiration and the start of a new month. More than 7 million residents could be affected by the change.
