This client is a bachelor who, like tens of millions of others, uses dating apps to meet women. Last week he came across the profile of a woman whose Tinder bio stated that she worked as a crypto trader.
Afterwards they went for a walk and eventually settled on going to the client’s residence for a drink. They stopped to buy alcohol, but upon getting to the client’s residence he noticed she was more interested in listening to music than in drinking.
After some period of time the client went to the restroom. While he was there we suspect the woman laced our client’s drink with scopolamine, also known as ‘Devil's Breath,’ or a benzodiazepine. These drugs are well known to cause loss of inhibition and memory loss.
Our client woke up the next day in his bed and noticed his phone was missing, though his wallet along with cash, debit cards, and ID were still there. No other valuables (such as his electronics and passports) were stolen from the residence.
He began checking various accounts from his laptop and saw that purchases from his bank account had been attempted at several exchanges and bitcoin withdrawals had been attempted from other custodial services. The attacker was systematically trying to clean out his crypto accounts.

An encrypted webmail service that I had previously recommended had a System Failure the start of this weekend. This lead to total loss of our emails & data since March 7th.
From their statement on reddit:
"We recently had a system failure and some of our customer's data were irrecoverably lost.
We truly apologize for that. We cannot restore data from backups because we do not keep backups for security reasons. We will be revisiting that policy in the future. We will be happy to process refunds for anyone regardless of when they created their account."
Users reported not being able to access their accounts early Friday, and then logged back Saturday in the AM to find that all the emails since March 7th had been scrubbed.
NOTICE:
- If you registered your account after March 7th, contact CTemplar immediately to attempt to restore it.
- If you have bought a subscription to CTemplar, you are able to get a refund.
When CTemplar first launched, they acknowledged the biggest issues facing encrypted webmail, and along with their juridiction and privacy friendly policies, they were a service to utilize. However, given the scale of these latest failures I cannot recommend CTemplar as a service anymore.
Personally, I am switching my systems as fast as I can to other privacy friendly but more reliable services:

A district council in eastern Germany has declared a disaster after its computer systems were paralyzed by a hacker attack in what the federal cybersecurity watchdog confirmed was the country's first-ever "cyber-catastrophe."
Hackers knocked out the IT operations of the municipality of Anhalt-Bitterfeld, in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, on Tuesday, July 6, a spokesperson confirmed to Reuters on Saturday, July 10.
"We are almost completely paralyzed," the spokesperson said, adding its offices would probably remain offline next week and giving no indication of when services would resume.
The municipality declined comment on the identity of the attacker or whether they had made a ransom demand, citing a police investigation. Security sources say German local governments often run outdated and poorly maintained software systems that could be wide open to cyberattack.
The rural district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld, with a population of 157,000, is for the time being unable to pay out welfare benefits. Its consequent catastrophe declaration is a formal step that allows it to call for federal help.
The cyberattack is the latest in a series of incidents targeting public infrastructure, including the recent takedown of the US Colonial Pipeline, while extortionists have also targeted widely-used IT applications with ransomware attacks.

Therefore, cryptocurrencies need to be brought into the broad international financial structure to reduce the number of “safe havens” for cybercriminals.
The cryptocurrencies topic was raised not only once during the event. There was a special session dedicated to making the financial system resilient as digital currencies proliferate with the participation of Mark Barnett, President of Mastercard Europe, Mathew Dill, Global Head of Strategic Partnerships and Ventures, Senior Vice President, Visa and Alexey Zabotkin, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia. Some arguments in the complaint:
- Amazon uses up to 500MB of Internet bandwidth through each sidewalk device.
- Owners can only opt out if they are aware, and are not compensated if they aren't
This case on behalf of a Nationwide Class, all persons who bought or acquired and use an Amazon Sidewalk Device.
A jury trial is demanded by the plaintiff.
