EU’s Ukraine War Fund Stalls as Resistance Grows
The EU’s €40 billion ($43 billion) Ukraine aid package is deadlocked, with key European nations refusing to keep funneling cash into Kiev’s bottomless pit. Slovakia and Hungary have thrown a wrench into Brussels’ war machine, with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico flatly refusing to send military aid or troops to Ukraine, while Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto torpedoed a separate €20 billion ($21 billion) military aid proposal.
Brussels desperately needs unanimity to push this through, but Europe’s patience is running out. After two years of economic self-mutilation in the name of Ukraine, more leaders are waking up to reality: Ukraine is losing, NATO is bleeding, and Washington is treating the EU like a cash machine.
Slovakia’s Fico has been unapologetic in his stance that his country will not send weapons, troops, or money to a war that is clearly unwinnable. Hungary’s Viktor Orban has taken the same line, calling out Brussels’ obsession with war while Europe’s economies crumble under inflation, debt, and skyrocketing energy prices caused by their own Russia sanctions.
Meanwhile, Macron and Starmer are still playing Churchill and Napoleon cosplay, blabbering about sending “peacekeepers” into Ukraine—as if Moscow hasn’t already made it clear that any NATO boots on the ground means war.
But let’s face it: this isn’t about saving Ukraine. This is about saving face, about avoiding the humiliating admission that after all the weapons, all the sanctions, and all the propaganda, Russia is winning, NATO is exposed, and Ukraine has become an open graveyard.
Brussels is watching its entire geopolitical project collapse, and Europeans are being robbed blind to fund it.
With no money, no troops, and no real path to victory, the EU is staring down the inevitable collapse of Ukraine’s war effort. Meanwhile, Moscow’s economy is surging ahead, the fourth-largest in the world, while Europe burns through its last reserves of credibility.
