🇸🇾/🇸🇾/🇸🇾 ✏️MUST READ | The events that have happened are not new. The Alawite anger that has emerged today in the form of attacks is not a new phenomenon. The regime had been targeting Alawites specifically in a continuous manner since the fall of the Assad regime. These attacks were systematic, particularly against the Alawite community, and many Syrians came out threatening and vowing to punish the Alawites, as if they were the only sect involved with Assad’s regime. Massacres, abductions, random shootings, and incursions into Alawite areas, as well as military convoys, continued as a form of sectarian imposition on another sect. Just a week ago, 13,000 civil employees were dismissed simply for being Alawite.

If we talk from a sectarian perspective, the Syrian army under the previous regime had many Sunnis. The Mufti of the Assad regime was Sunni, and the previous Mufti was also Sunni. Government clerics were Sunnis as well. Despite that, the targeting continued specifically against the Alawites, and we documented many massacres, abductions, and horrific acts—some of which have not been published on media channels, sourced from private channels, including brutal actions, mockery, and attacks, among other things.

In contrast, after the fall of the Ba'ath regime in Iraq, there was no systematic targeting of any members of the regime, and no sect was specifically targeted. Even the Shiite resistance forces, which were accused by extremist terrorists, were not targeted systematically, as is happening in Syria. If Iraqis had targeted all the "remnants of the Ba'ath regime," there would have been massacres in the millions.

Now, the Syrian government is proceeding with a logic of hatred and revenge, systematically targeting remnants of the old regime as if regimes never fall or rise again. And now we see Alawites revolting against the oppression, massacres, and harassment they have faced, as if they are the only ones in this country. Meanwhile, the Druze, who cooperated with Israel, are left alone doing whatever they want, why? Because they are not alwaite kuffar

Is this how countries should be run? Is this how nations should be built? There is a reason why wise politicians did not want Syria to fall into the hands of such barbaric and terrorist-like individuals.
