The findings of the PEGA inquiry are shocking and they should alarm every European citizen. It is evident that the trade in, and use of spyware should be strictly regulated. The PEGA committee will make a series of recommendations to that effect." https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/A-9-2023-0189_EN.pdf" #Pegasus #NSO #EU #PEGA

Now is the time to stop spyware profiteering | BDS Movement –
#spyware #PEGA #EU #Pegasus #NSO #Israel #Palestine #Apartheid #BDS
Israeli spyware companies were the first to turn this weapon technology into a commercial product. Once they let the genie out of the bottle, it became a race to the bottom for control over it. After serving in intelligence units which employed spyware against Palestinian civilians as part of the enforcement of the Israeli apartheid regime, Israeli intelligence officers set up private companies, and with approval and support of the Israeli ministry of defense proceeded to sell spyware to Europe, the US and the rest of the globe, including to some of the world’s worst authoritarian regimes, to be used against journalists, lawyers and human rights activists. For the Israeli government, spyware became a currency with which to buy diplomatic favor around the world.#spyware #PEGA #EU #Pegasus #NSO #Israel #Palestine #Apartheid #BDS

Sideband is an LXMF client for Android, Linux and macOS. It allows you to communicate with other people or LXMF-compatible systems over Reticulum networks using LoRa, Packet Radio, WiFi, I2P, Encrypted QR Paper Messages, or anything else Reticulum supports.
Sideband is completely free, end-to-end encrypted, permission-less, anonymous and infrastructure-less. Sideband uses the peer-to-peer and distributed messaging system LXMF. There is no sign-up, no service providers, no "end-user license agreements", no data theft and no surveillance. You own the system.
This also means that Sideband operates differently than what you might be used to. It does not need a connection to a server on the Internet to function, and you do not have an account anywhere. Please read the Guide section included in the program, to get an understanding of how Sideband differs from other messaging systems.https://github.com/markqvist/Sideband

The WHO Welcomes North Korea
The World Health Organization had a bad pandemic, bowing far too much to Chinese influence and making it harder to discover the origin of Covid-19.
The WHO added to that embarrassment recently when the World Health Assembly voted to allow North Korea to serve on the WHO executive board. The North Korean Ministry of Public Health's Dr. Jong Min Pak has been seated on the WHO's executive board with a term set to last until 2026. The communist state's new position on the board allows them say in determining the organization's agenda and policy prescriptions.
Other new board members include experts from Australia, Barbados, Cameroon, Qatar, Switzerland and Ukraine.

Sweet QuaDreams: A First Look at Spyware Vendor QuaDream’s Exploits, Victims, and Customers - The Citizen Lab – 2023
#Quadream #spyware #ENFOFDAYS #Ios #Calendar #Icloud
Based on an analysis of samples shared with us by Microsoft Threat Intelligence, we developed indicators that enabled us to identify at least five civil society victims of QuaDream’s spyware and exploits in North America, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Victims include journalists, political opposition figures, and an NGO worker. We are not naming the victims at this time.
We also identify traces of a suspected iOS 14 zero-click exploit used to deploy QuaDream’s spyware.
The exploit was deployed as a zero-day against iOS versions 14.4 and 14.4.2, and possibly other versions. The suspected exploit, which we call ENDOFDAYS, appears to make use of invisible iCloud calendar invitations sent from the spyware’s operator to victims.

🔹As Europe pushes for more electrification (electric cars & wind turbines etc.), findings by Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden 🇸🇪, on behalf of the European Commission 🇪🇺 warn that this is not feasible. With the current levels of worldwide rare earth elements production, there will not be enough of these metals in future, not even if recycling increases.
🔹The EU now risks making access to the rare earth element neodymium (Nd), difficult for future generations if they are unable to use what is already in circulation. Nd is essential to make permanent magnets for electric motors ⚙️, generators & wind turbines. Nd usage has increased by around 400% since 2006.
🔹Continuous advancements in permanent magnet technology are fueling utilization of alloys containing neodymium and is bolstering market growth. Nd magnets 🧲 help reduce the size and weight of components particularly for wind turbines generators.
🔹Contradictions arise from environmental policies geared towards electrification. A 2 megawatt wind turbine contains about 800 pounds of Nd. A megawatt of direct drive wind turbine capacity may require around 1100 pounds of permanent magnets.
🔹For example, the Bayan’obo district of Inner Mongolia 🇲🇳🇨🇳, has an open pit mine for rare earth's including Nd. Each metric ton of rare-earth element mined there necessitates clearing 3,230 square feet of vegetation and topsoil, and releases 1,000 metric tons of contaminated wastewater and 2,000 metric tons of solid or liquid waste tailings.
🔹Further problems arise as Nd magnets need significant amounts of dysprosium to perform at elevated temperatures; such as in EV's 🚗. Dysprosium relative abundance in the earth’s crust , is less than 1% of all rare earth elements. Alternatives to rare earth-based alloys already exist, but they lack the energy density needed to replace neodymium based magnets. Such alternative magnets will never be more than 60% as powerful as their rare earth counterparts.
