A French presidential official said last Monday, July 4, that the international community should explore all options to ease the Russian restriction on energy supplies that has sent prices soaring, including talks with producing nations such as Iran and Venezuela, reported the Reuters agency.
"We have Venezuelan oil that also needs to return to the market," he said on the sidelines of the G-7 summit being held in Germany.

Zelensky’s Court Bans Another Ukrainian Opposition Party, Bringing the Total Number of Outlawed Political Groups to 15
A Ukrainian court on Tuesday (July 5) banned the country’s Communist Party (CPU), marking the end of an eight-year saga, and adding the communists to the blacklist of now 15 allegedly ‘pro-Russian’ political movements that are outlawed in Ukraine.
The Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal in the western city of Lviv announced that “the activities of the Communist Party of Ukraine are prohibited.”
“Funds and other assets” of the party will be nationalized.
Attempts to ban the party started in 2014, when the acting president at the time, Aleksandr Turchinov, ordered a review into the CPU’s activities. He did not rule out the possibility of banning it over its alleged involvement in protests in the eastern parts of the country after the violent Western-backed coup in Kiev overthrew the democratically-elected government.

Mexico’s President Campaigns to Dismantle the Statue of Liberty if Assange is Convicted in the U.S.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) said on Monday (July 4) that if Julian Assange is convicted in the U.S. for the WikiLeaks case, a campaign should be launched to dismantle the Statue of Liberty in New York because that country would have lost its identity.
In a press conference from the National Palace, the federal president affirmed that a conviction against the journalist would mean a loss of the symbolism that the effigy represents and considered that the media should call a large concentration to demand the activist’s pardon.
“A few days ago I released a New York Times report talking about the super cop, Genaro García Luna, and it is the New York Times, and the Financial Times does the same, and The Wall Street Journal, and we are all talking Of this Assange thing, isn’t it worthwhile for the New York Times to deal with the matter, El País and to convene a meeting of the most important press in the world to exhort, request, call, so that a pardon be granted to Assange?" AMLO said.

🇬🇧@COVID19Up: Hundreds more people than usual are dying each week in England and Wales with COVID-19 not to blame for the vast majority of excess deaths, new figures show.
The latest data from the Office for National Statistics show there were 1,540 excess deaths in the week ending June 24 but only 10% of those were due to COVID-19.
Before the end of March, deaths in England and Wales were lower than usual this year despite hundreds of people dying from COVID-19. Yet in the last three months, the situation has reversed, with overall deaths rising even though COVID-19 deaths have been falling.
Baffled health 'experts' have called for an urgent investigation into what is behind the excess mortality.
Dr. Charles Levinson, the chief executive of the private GP company DoctorCall, also called for a government inquiry into what was causing so many deaths at home. The ONS reported 752 excess deaths in the home in the latest week, 30% more than usual and more than hospitals and care homes put together.
“This is exactly why a proper government investigation is required,” Dr. Levinson said. “This is not just displacement from hospitals... I do not understand how this is not being properly discussed.”
